This is a great website and I now check it daily. I live in Canada but having just returned from a week in Ipwich/Essex it's like a second home town. I am decended from Choates and Burnhams and am keenly interested in the updates on the Choate Bridge damage and repairs. Maybe it's 6th Great Grand Uncle, Col John Choate, checking it through me. Then just as this beautiful little community is trying to recover from the flooding you are left reeling from this devastating fire. My heart goes out to the people of the town.

Hello,
I am looking for demographic info on Ipswich such
as whether it is growing, the economic profile of
the population, medium income, commercial
space and whether it has been growing or decreasing
over the past 5 years...etc. Can you please refer me to any web sites which might
have this data or perhaps you have it in hard copy and
could send me copies of it? We will gladly pay any
associated costs. I am from the South Shore and our local newspaper once
a year has a special issue covering each town with
detailed demographic data. Would you have anything
similar?
Or perhaps you could refer me to an economic development
commission in your area? I took a look at the Ipswich
town web site but did not find much there that could
help me.
Thank you!

I used to live in Ipswich England. Apart from the pictures of your beach (the sea is ten miles from Ipswich, England) your town appears an exact duplicate of Ipswich England. We too have a castle hill area - and the "great house" at Castle hill, pictured on your web site is an exact replica of a mansion sitting in similar park land in the centre of the town. Ipswich, England also has a beautiful river very similar to yours. I'm sure I'll turn up in the new year. (I'm off to Southern Morocco for a few weeks first. See you soon!

Hello and G'Day - I am a serving Police Officer in the New South Wales Police Department in Australia, I have been a police officer now for 15 yrs . We are a State Police Dept, there are 17,000 officers. In Australia we only have State police. I am collecting from our colleagues Police uniform patches for a display. I would like to represent your Department in this display. It would be appreciated if you would be able to contribute a patch to our display, even a ( used old one ). I do understand that you receive request regularly, but if possible to have one sent Down Under would be great. I hope things were quiet for you during the Iraq crisis, the anti war protests we had kept us busy. Good to hear the POWs were saved and now back at home with their families. It's pretty much over now, just a matter of time before there all back home. We currently have trials on in Indonesia for the persons involved in the bombing and killing of 90 Australian tourists . It appears this is going to be a long term goal to rid the world of such people. We have also just recently had a male attempt to hijack a plane, he was restrained but not before stabbing two of the crew. Anyhow I appreciate anything you can do. Stay safe. As we say, "thanks mate "

Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Rebecca Riley. I am a High School student and am currently on a 2 week work experience course at my local newspaper in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. I visited Ipswich, Massachusetts 2 years ago on a family holiday to the area. I have been asked to write an article comparing Ipswich, Massachusetts with Ipswich, England. I have been on to your website to look for information and found some of it useful. I would be extremely grateful if you could provide me with anymore extra information about the town via e-mail as soon as possible. I am looking for any general information about the town (its population size, historical background etc) as well as any street maps that you can send which contain Elm Street as I am particularly interested in the police station (as coincidentally our police station here is on Elm Street!) Please send me this information if you can as soon as possible by e-mail as I have been given a week to complete this task. Thank you.

We are visiting Ipswich next month, from the UK, and a friend has told us that you have an excellent antique/flea market in your area. Unfortunately, he can't remember how to direct us to it, or how often it is on, so we are hoping that you will be kind enough to give us any information you can, so that we can make a beeline for it! Many thanks for your time, Elaine, in England.

Do you have any historical information on the building that used to house the Stonehenge Pub in the 70's. Coming from Newburyport, the building is on the left on the main street running through Ipswich and I believe there is water running by it to the right when facing the building. Any information on the building or the businesses that occupied it would be appreciated.

My Great grandmother was Francis Amelia Lamson. I would like to know all that I can about Ipswich and her family of Lamsons who settled there and most likely, some that still live there. One was even a juror at the Tryalls of the Witches. Please forward the booklet, I look forward to seeing it. Thanks, Pam

Need the name of a gift shop there owned by last name Allen, trying to buy cats meow of cranes castle. use to live in Ipswich years ago, can you help.
I use to live in Ipswich, graduated from Ipswich High, the old one on High St. loved your site but it needs some old and new pics, or old ipswich pics like Kitty Robinson use to put in the paper. Can't believe how much you have changed but need more info on all your business's. We come home every couple years and I always drive through. We came through when they were tearing the high school down. I cried. Not there long enough to be torn down. The original is still standing and what we use to call the new high school is gone. I graduated in 68 how about you.
1/14/03 ~ Ipswich, Suffolk, England Dear Ipswich MA - I have looked in vain on your historical site for mention of Nathaniel Ward who emigrated from Suffolk (England) and renamed the settlement of Agarram to Ipswich . Perhaps this is wrong? If anyone there could confirm if the above is true I would be obliged, as the information is required for the introduction to my new book Suffolk Stories , which will be published later this year. If you wished to see the kind of thing I write, please go to www.author.co.uk/Twinch . Although I don't have much about Ipswich MA in the book, there are three chapters about Americans in Suffolk.
